I was involved as user experience architect in the core team to develop the company’s first Web 2.0 institution wide framework for generic/specialized User Interface for e-commerce web-applications.
Design Process and Solution
The aim of the project was to model an architecture so that the client may customize the e-commerce homepage among the various available options of layouts, search technique, navigation models and page components. In order to customize the e-commerce application a following step-wise process has to be taken selecting a particular component in each step.

Bus route visualization for Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati.
Designed IIT Guwahati bus-route planning system and Bus route visualization map.
Role: Information Visualizer, Designer.
Duration: One Month
Tasks: Contextual Inquiry, User observation, Brainstorming,Task Analysis, Information Architecture, Sketching, Paper prototyping, Interface design.
Design Process
- User research to understand the problems of bus commuters and difficulty with signage system.
- Literature review for information visualization in different maps. (London underground road network and Tufte & Minard’s work on visualization)
- Persona and Scenarios creation.
- Low-fidelity prototype of the route-map visualization and user testing.
- Visual design of the route-map

Features of the design solution
- The interface continuously provides the users with the route maps of all the buses and transportation services between his current location and destination.
- Information regarding the various buses connecting any two places like bus number, capacity of the bus etc. is also provided to avoid confusion in the users.
- Gestalt’s theory and Colour were properly used to categorize complex information into various chunks and there by presenting complex data in a simple and understandable way
